Rhetoric and Writing at Ball State
Ethos, pathos, logos. We've all analyzed Brutus and Antony's speeches at Julius Caesar's funerals through these lenses and called it a rhetorical analysis. However, I feel the need to distinguish my degree from this. The Rhetoric and Writing program at Ball State synthesizes history, philosophy, critical thinking, and professional writing to create well-rounded, proficient writers that have a greater understanding of situation and context that can be implemented to create good writing. In the three years I spent earning my degree, I was formally trained in the art of not just persuasion, but composition. I followed my natural ability to articulate and used it as a foundation to study style and grace in writing. My colleague's blog post below accurately defines the program and its practical benefits.
